Swimming Carnival Early Finish Due to Extreme Heat
Unfortunately due to extreme weather on Friday, the TMC Splash Carnival will now finish at the earlier time of 12.30 p.m. Please ensure that your child/children have sufficient water, sunscreen and wear appropriate clothing for the day, as per the notice and consent form.
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
As indicated in the 2017 Semester 1 calendar, the Thomas More College Splash Carnival is to be held at the Salisbury Swimming Centre, Happy Home Reserve (off Waterloo Corner Road) on Friday 10 February.
The structure of the carnival has changed slightly from previous years with both the individual competitive swimming events and splash carnival activities being run on the same day.
Activities include volleyball, aqua netball, water polo and the opportunity to take on a large inflatable obstacle course. These have been designed to involve as many students as possible, including those who do not feel they are competent swimmers.
All students to meet inside the Salisbury Swimming Centre by 8:40am for roll call on Friday the 10 February.
Parents / Caregivers and students are reminded that the day is scheduled as a normal school day. Class rolls will be taken in the morning and afternoon by Wellbeing Mentors and students who do not attend will need to ensure they follow the normal procedure for a non-attendance day at school. Late arrivals are required to report to their Wellbeing Mentor or Year Level Coordinator immediately on their arrival at the Swimming Centre, and should have a signed note as per the usual process.
There will be no entry cost to students. Students are permitted to wear their Physical Education Uniform on this day. Alternatively, they may choose to substitute the PE top with a plain house coloured T- shirt to show support for their house team. Please be aware that denim or inappropriate logos and symbols are not appropriate for this school event.
Students are reminded of the importance of being sun-smart on the day. As well as a towel and bathers, students should bring broad brimmed hats, sunscreen and plenty of water. We ask that all students apply sunscreen frequently during the day. Sunscreen will be supplied by the College. The canteen will only be open at certain times throughout the day and therefore it should not be relied upon to provide lunch or drinks on demand.
Students will be dismissed from the Salisbury Swimming Centre at 12:30 p.m.
If you have any enquiries please do not hesitate to contact the college during normal school hours.
Sincerely
Mrs Megan Elliott
Sport Coordinator
